No-exam life insurance

Eligibility rules for immediate decisions, how the process works, and what to expect when an exam is still required.

Many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: they assess applicants within specified age and amount parameters using your application, pharmacy records, driving history, and other available data rather than requiring a paramedical examination. Some decisions happen the same day. Our quotes indicate whether each product requires, may require, or does not require an exam.

What it changes

Medical underwriting still occurs even when an exam is waived. The company confirms your statements, and an incorrectly completed application can be challenged within the first two years. If the carrier's records raise concerns, they may still request an exam or lab results; you retain the choice to continue.

Who tends to qualify

Typically, applicants younger than about 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limit, without significant past health issues and with no tobacco use during the prior year, may qualify. If your recent medical work included blood tests, some insurers accept those instead of a new exam.

When an exam is necessary, a paramedic typically schedules a 20- to 30-minute appointment at a location convenient to you—your home or office in the Tustin area—and performs the exam at no charge. For applicants in good health, examination findings frequently result in a better rate classification, so the exam can actually work in your favor.
